My Coconut-free Night Skin Care Routine

I have been playing around with my night skin care for some time now. After much trial and error, I have found a routine that really works for me. I’d like to share all the products I use and tell you why I like each one of them.

For a little background, I have a coconut allergy that greatly affects the products that I am able to use. I have searched for products that don’t contain coconut nor coconut derivatives. I have a full list of coconut-free skin care products if you would like to find ones that will work for your night skin care routine.

Cleansing

Face cleansers

Firstly, I remove my eye makeup. Lancôme Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover is my favorite. This stuff can carefully strip anything off of your lashes. On special occasions when I wear waterproof mascara, it slides off easily with this product. It doesn’t require much to get it done either.

Next, I remove my face makeup. Ages ago I bought Albolene’s Face Moisturizer and Makeup Remover. The tub is so large, I hardly have made a dent in it. The texture is very similar to Vaseline. I first rinse my face with water, just to get my makeup in the mood for coming off. With a little balm on my fingers, I massage it all around my face. I take the same cotton pad from my eye makeup remover and soak it in hot water from the faucet. Then I gently wipe my whole face, re-wetting the pad when necessary.

Now it’s time for the second cleansing. I have recently been enjoying the Nature Sustained Organic Body Wash & Face Wash for this step. Since their products are so concentrated, I have taken some of the soap and put it into a travel spray bottle. The ratio of the mix is 50/50 soap and water.

With my handy spray bottle, I spray my face, lather it with my hands, then rinse my face under the running water. I have noticed that my skin feels really clean after using the Nature Sustained Body and Face Wash.

Toning

Toning

Now we come to the toning section of my night skin care routine. When I was younger, I remember toning with harsh products that left my skin feeling tight and irritated. Those days are long behind me now.

Using a clean cotton pad, I use InstaNatural Organic Rose Water Face Toner and wipe it all over my face. As a bonus, this has a lovely floral smell to it.

On the other side of the cotton pad, I squirt out some COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid. It is the last step of removing impurities from my skin. Despite all of the previous steps, it always picks up the last traces of excess dirt and oil.

Hydration

I struggle with psoriasis, so dry skin is my constant enemy. These steps bring me much relief, so I really bask in it.

If you take only one thing from my night time skin care routine, let it be this. I’m serious. It’s amazing. Cosmedica Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The morning after using this serum for the first time, I literally woke up and thought, “My skin feels so plump and hydrated!” Please please please try it.

Both day and night, I use the Cure Water Treatment Skin Cream. Since it’s not oily, it absorbs very quickly without leaving a film. Having used many heavy coconut-free balms in the past, this cream has been quite a contrast. I find this product to be effective but not showy at all. As far as I can tell, it gets the job done and hydrates my skin.

We’re nearly done. Next I apply Acure’s Brightening Glowing Serum all over my face. I know it’s not the right order, but honestly, this serum feels and applies more like a facial oil to me. I like having it as a final moisturizing layer all over my skin. In my mind, it seals all the products underneath so that they can do their job overnight. Plus, it works great as a oil to use for facial massage with Gua Sha and a jade roller.

I like targeting wrinkles, so I put a dot of UpCircle Eye Cream With Coffee under each eye and rub it in. It has a gorgeous creamy texture, and I love the idea of giving my eyes some coffee to keep them perky.

We’ve made it to the end! This last product isn’t facial skin care, but it’s still my skin so it counts. Around my cuticles, I put on some Mario Badescu Cuticle Cream. It stays on my fingers all night long and keeps my hands looking healthy.
